Return policy

We have a 30-day return policy, which means you have 30 days after receiving your item to request a return.


An item is only eligible for a return for two reasons:

a) Damaged Item [see below for further details]

or

b) Incorrect item was shipped

We make every effort to ensure that our products are packed securely with adequate padding for transport, and that inventory is organised meticulously so that orders can be processed accurately. However, human error can occur and should you receive an item that is eligible for a return, we will do our utmost to correct the mistake.

For a return to be accepted, your item must be in the same condition that you received it; new, unused, unsharpened, and in its original packaging. You will need to provide photographic evidence.


To start a return, you must contact us at info@migotocutlery.com, and quote your Order Confirmation number. If your return is accepted, we’ll send you a return shipping label, as well as instructions on how to return your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be eligible for a refund or exchange and will only be sent back to you after payment of all shipping costs.

Damages
Please inspect your order upon receipt and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right. Damaged items include: blade is warped or bent, blade is chipped or cracked, edge profile is out of shape, handle is loose and rattling, whetstone is broken or cracked.

The following are examples that DO NOT qualify as Damaged, including but not limited to: minor scratches on the surface of the blade or handle, small amounts of adhesive visible from handle attachment, scratches or dents on packaging box, small difference in measurements in comparison to the dimensions listed on the product's page on our website and any other circumstance or condition not listed above as Damaged. 

We conduct our inventory and inspection quality control process to high standards. We will never sell a knife at full retail price that we deem to be badly scratched. If there are knives within a batch of inventory we receive that are cracked, delaminated, warped, has a broken edge profile, or have dimensions that are significantly different from the blade design we specified; we immediately make contact with our craftsmen or supplier. Such items are returned to our craftsmen or supplier and are not added to our product listings.

We have an understanding with our craftsmen and suppliers that each knife is individually made by hand, and that within a batch of knives, there is a likelihood of small differences in measurements between each knife of the same design. As such, we recommend that if you are particular about the exact dimensions of the knife you will receive, please contact us before making your purchase. We will do our utmost to meet your expectations. 

Please note that it is common for natural whetstones to have chipped corners, lines, inclusions, small cracks and craters. We do our best to capture these details in our website images and descriptions. However, we do not guarantee that such stone will not have any cracks, inclusions, craters, lines or other imperfections in any part of the stone that is not visible upon sale of such stone.

Should you be eligible for a return; firstly we sincerely apologise, and we make it our priority to process your return smoothly. Once we have received and inspected the item that was sent back to us, we will offer you a Refund or an Exchange. Typically the choice between the two options would be yours, however, we reserve right to choose based on the situation and our interaction.

Refund
If approved, you will be refunded the full product price through your original payment method. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and the refund.

Exchange

Typically, an exchange would be a like for like item. In some cases, additional units of the returned item may be out of stock. In which case we will be willing to exchange your return for a different item or multiple items. Ideally, the item(s) that are exchanged for have a total value that is within 10% of the value of the original item's price. The difference in amount must be settled prior to the item(s) being prepared for shipment to you.
