Hitachi Blue #1 core laminated with soft iron damascus, forged by Satoshi Nakagawa. 

Grind and finish by Kawakita Hamono. 

A petty in the same style as the Suminagashi Gyuto. Designed to act as a small all rounder, with a larger dimensions than the average petty. A great utility sidekick or even as a main knife if you work in tight spots. These have been ground with a rather thin tip region giving it a slight feel of distal taper, which is not commonly seen in Sakai made blades.

The cutting feel is closer to a full convex ground blade rather than a shinogi/wide bevel. You do feel a slight ridge where the polished area meets the kurouchi. But as the grind has been taken higher up, it has a somewhat more acute feel than a regular shinogi ground kurouchi blade. 

The kurouchi is leftover blacksmith's scale rather than a coating.

awsome knive

Beautiful knife, the fit and finish is top notch Yes,I received the knife as described, the delivery was very fast! The blade is well built and the edge very sharp, I particularly like the kurouchi finishes and this does well for how it is left raw.I am pleased to note how the blacksmith has skill in making thin the part near the wire, where the central steel begins!
